A RENOVATORS DREAM (SYDNEY AIRPORT)

WE WANDERED from the glitzy shopping-mall-like atmosphere of the airport into the customs departure gates. This room had all the warmth in interior decoration of an 80's bank. Black plastic counters stuck out from the walls holding pens on chains made from little balls. Piles of scrunched up forms lay apathetically on the floor under the counters, and roped off queuing areas lead to the counters. This place was empty, devoid of human life aside from the bueurocratically distinterested gaze of the customs officers.
